The Chess Combination from Philidor to Karpov
Published in Hardcover by MacMillan Pub Co (September, 1977)
Average review score:

Very good for the average player. This book can help you understand what to seek on the chessboard and how to achieve it, using excellent paradigms of great chess-masters. The author's comments are easy to read and understand, and can make you really love this "game". There are games in there, you'll never forget about. The combination in chess is what we call "magic" in life. Excellent gift for young players.

the most exciting Nancy Drew yet!!!'Clue in the Ancient Disguise' is about a young french engineer(Pierre Michaud)who has uncovered a mystery surrounding an 18th century ancestor in a note found in his grandfather's papers. Of course Pierre asks Nancy to solve the mystery. But at the same time attemted burglaries have been made at the River Heights Arts Institute, although nothing is ever taken. Even though there are many attempts to get Nancy of the case she will never give up!

Crosscurrents (Nancy Drew Files, No 68)
Published in Paperback by Archway (February, 1992)
Average review score:

Keeping it up!All of the Nancy Drew books tend to have the same pattern, someone asks for help in solving a mystery, then Nancy keeps on finding clues, until she solves the mystery. There is normally some more adventurous parts to the book too. Considering this is the way the books are written I think that Caroyln Keene does an excelent job in coming up with new storylines. This book is one for people who enjoy a good mystery. Nancy is asked to solve a mystery involving an aquarium, and some threats. Another great mystery from the best of them all Carolyn Keene.

Dawn to the West

Average review score:

All you need to know, right hereI bought this book to supplement a course I was taking on Japanese literature, and it was one of the few "optional" texts I ever actually read. Donald Keene is the first person to look to if you are interested in Japanese literature. Not only does he know the literaure inside and out, he puts everything in a context of history and culture that makes you appreciate the actual works even more. This book is comprehensive, well thought out, and very accessible.
